Step by step

The question

Question: find the volume of a prism with base area 15 m² and length 6 m.

1 Base times length

A prism has the same shape all the way through.

The face at the end is the base.

Its area is A = 15 m².

The prism is that base, stacked up 6 m long.

Like the circle of a cylinder.

So the volume is V = A × length.

V = A × length

Now put the numbers in: A = 15 and length = 6.

V = 15 × 6

15 times 6 is 90.

We count cubes, so the unit is m³.

So the volume is 90 m³.

V = 90 m3
Answer
V = 90 m3

Your turn

Try this one yourself, then check:

Find the volume.
