The question

Question: find the volume of a box 10 long, 4 wide and 6 high.

1 Length × width × height

Volume is how much space is inside.

We count the 1 by 1 by 1 cubes that fit.

The volume of a box is V = length × width × height.

V = length × width × height

Now put the numbers in: length = 10, width = 4 and height = 6.

V = 10 × 4 × 6

10 times 4 is 40.

That is one layer of 40 cubes.

There are 6 layers.

So V = 40 × 6.

V = 40 × 6

40 times 6 is 240.

So the volume is 240 cubic units.

V = 240
Answer
V = 240
