The question

Question: find the volume of a cube with sides 10 m.

1 Side × side × side

Volume is how much space is inside.

We count the 1 by 1 by 1 cubes that fit.

All the sides of a cube are the same.

So the volume is V = side × side × side.

V = side × side × side

Now put the numbers in: side = 10.

V = 10 × 10 × 10

10 times 10 is 100.

That is one layer of 100 cubes.

So V = 100 × 10: 10 layers of 100.

V = 100 × 10

100 times 10 is 1000.

We count cubes, so the unit is m³.

So the volume is 1000 m³.

V = 1000 m3
Answer
V = 1000 m3

Your turn
