The question

Question: find the perimeter of a rectangle 9 cm long and 6 cm wide.

1 Find every side

The perimeter is the way all around the edge.

We add every side.

The top is the same as the bottom: 9 cm.

The right side is the same as the left: 6 cm.

2 Add all the sides

Walk around and add: 9 + 6 + 9 + 6.

P = 9 + 6 + 9 + 6

9 plus 6 is 15.

The other two sides make 15 too.

P = 15 + 15

15 plus 15 is 30.

So the perimeter is 30 cm.

P = 30 cm

Let's look back.

First: find every side.

Last: add all the sides.

Answer
P = 30 cm
